Lord Vishnu takes huge form and measures the sky and the heaven with his one step, and again he measures the whole earth with his second step and by his third step he sends Bali to Patal Lok forever. The heavenly Gods are very happy. From here the Lord Shiva story-teller Rudragiri starts narrating the story of the Kedarnath-Jyotirling which is situated on the high Himalayas. Nara and Narayan, the two sons of King Dharma are devout Shiva Bhaktas. Seeing them engrossed in prayer and devotion of Lord Shiva, a neighbouring King Jagbhooti, attacks their kingdom and puts them in jail. In Jail, Nara and Narayan do not give up their praying to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva appears in the dream of King Jagbhooti. He warns him to free Nara and Narayan and return their kingdom back. King Jagbhooti prays for pardon and agrees to follow Lord Shiva's orders.
