Devarshi Narad goes to the court of the King of heaven; Lord Indra suggests that his heaven should be well protected with a shield. Lord Indra requests his friend Twashta Rishi to make such a shield but Twashta Rishi refuses. An annoyed Lord Indra turns him out of heaven. To avenge this insult, Twastha Rishi performs a 'Shakti Yagna' and a three headed child Trishira' is born. Lord Indra on learning this kills Trishira to make Twastha even more furions. He performs another Yagna and from it a demon Vritrasur comes out to take orders. Twastha orders Vritrasur to take revenge of Lord Indra by defeating him.
